There are six main types of fire extinguisher filling agents. Each agent is capable of handling a different class of fire and therefore the choice is completely dependant on the environment that you are preventing the fire within.

Each extinguishing agent comes with its own benefits, water extinguishers are cheaper, produce a cooling effect and prevent reignition once the fire has been extinguished. Carbon dioxide extinguishers are clean agents, they leave no residue, are suitable for electrical fires and are often used on liquid fires which includes petrol, oil or other solvents.

• Water: Suitable for hospitals, supermarkets, hotels, public places and industrial. (Not for near electricals)
• Water Mist: Suitable for genset, hospitals & MRI, telecoms, health care, electronic workshops and petrol pumps.
• Water Additive: Suitable for supermarkets, shops, hotels, restaurants, clothing/fabric shops and offices.
• Wet Chemical: Suitable for kitchens, restaurants, hospitals, hotels, school, food supply chains and clothing shops

AVD Fire Extinguisher agent is an aqueous dispersion of chemically exfoliated vermiculite. It is applied to lithium battery fires as a mist, extinguishing them and preventing the propagation of the fire.

Detect Fire Lithium-ion Battery fire extinguisher with AVD agent provides effective lithium battery fire protection to prevent the propagation of heat when applied as a mist. The AVD coating also acts as a fire break. The vermiculite particles within the mist are deposited on the surface of the burning fuel to create a film over the top of the fire.

The film instantly dries and, because the high aspect ratio platelet particles overlap and bind together, a non-flammable oxygen barrier between the fuel and the atmosphere is produced. This process has a cooling effect on the fuel source and, as the water content in AVD is evaporated, the vermiculite platelets begin to build up and the fire is brought under control.
